I was looking for something other than a circle to use, when I discovered that I needed 3 birthday cards this week. I was looking through my stax and came across the balloons. Perfect! I pulled out the plaid builder for the background using the color challenge and the card was born. I stamped the confetti background on the main card for interest. Great sketch to work with this week!

Rainy Day
My Favorite Things has a new contest on their blog. My take on it is to think outside my comfort zone for card creations.
My card began by coating a piece of Smooth White cardstock with Gesso. I sponged some die based ink on for the background. Then I pulled out some background stamps, stencils and other stamps and went to work. Since the paper was coated, I was not limited to only one type of ink. I used a little darker and brighter inks for this layer. When it was dry, I added some silver and gold touches. After seeing how intense the raindrops appeared, I pulled out the Pure Innocence stamp, paper pieced her umbrella and colored her with Copic markers. I trimmed the background piece with a frame from Blueprints 20, mounted it on a piece of Blueberry cardstock cut from another frame from Blueprints 20 and mounted this on my card base. I popped the little girl up with foam tape, added a rhinestone on top of her umbrella and gave her boots some shine with glossy accents and she is ready to steal your heart!

I have been inspired to use the "Tall & Skinny" card challenge each month to make a Christmas Card. This one was really fun. Taylored Expressions has these die cuts each month called "Little Bits" and the Christmas ones are so cute. When I saw the circles, I knew the would be perfect. I chose to cut my circles out and it really gives it some depth.

Today's card uses my newest background stamp, distressed stripes. Don't you love the subtle look? I cut my tag from watercolor paper, added some beachy colors, then spritzed with sheer shimmer mist and added one of my penguin buddies colored with copic markers. That's it for today.

Totally Happy
I have had this stamp for several months now, and never found time to use it. My last knee injection was this week and it really swelled, so I was relegated to a chair with my knee propped up and lots of ice. Lucky for me, the chair was next to my craft desk and I had lots of hours to play. I used my new paper pad for the background, then with my harlequin stencil I used dye inks to create the next layer. I cut an oval from smooth white cardstock and mounted the PI clown, colored with copics, onto the oval with tape for dimension. A balloon cut with balloon stacks and stamped with dots from "Totally Happy" balanced the oval. A string of jute twine and a greeting from the PI set completed the card and made me "Totally Happy".
