SIP109

My grandmother has been on my mind for the past several days. She was a warm and caring lady and a big influence in my life. Her favorite flower was the peace rose and we had several of them in our yard. When my childhood home was sold, I received permission to dig up the last bush and moved it to our home in Cincinnati. It bloomed and flourished for many years. This card is my tribute to her.

I love the colors for this week. I chose some delicate flowers for my emphasis. The airiness reminds me of summer.

I thought this sketch would look good in a monochromatic color scheme and I believe that I am correct. What do you think?

MFT color challenge 73

I chose to paper piece these stars for the added color. I like the way it turned out but was really difficult with the small pieces. Maybe next time I will just color them in!  LOL

I knew that I wanted a printed paper for the top, but nothing spoke to me, so I stamped the background image, colored one flower, added some gold, and it was finished.

I looked at these colors for several days before the idea came to me. This was a card kit from MFT and I have had occasion to use it several times recently. The blue house with the red roof makes me happy.

SIP108

I stamped these flowers onto watercolor paper with Delacata gold ink. After letting them completely dry, I added color with Tombow markers and using a water brush, I moved the color to shade. I love the delicate look. Stamps and dies are from My Favorite Things.

The background is a background stamp which I swiped with blue and green. I added a little beach scene on top with die cuts from MFT.

I believe this is my first time entering this challenge. When I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of this silhouette stem. It is an old die and I am not sure which company made it. I do love the elegance of the black and gold. I'm hoping it is a worthy entry.

When I decided to use the PI Clowning Around, I know the square had to be a little wonky. I colored her with Copics and stamped a greeting from the set on the frame. We all need to "be silly" sometimes and just enjoy life!

I knew when I saw these colors that the flamingos had to come out. It has been a long time since I have played with them. Such beautiful pink colors have been released and I love the way they turned out. Die cuts, paper and ink are all from MFT stamps.

I chose the middle vertical row for my card. I am loving the MFT diagonal design background. I stamped it with Versamark and heat embossed it with Blue Silver embossing powder from Sparkle n Sprinkle. I chose die cut champagne flutes cut from vellum and colored with copic markers on the back and the matching liquid dies, cut from MFT gold sparkle paper. The sentiment, cut from MFT black licorice paper, was layered for depth. This was mounted on a top folding black card base.

I love these colors and they went so well with MFT butterflies. I used a light gray background but it looked too plain so I stamped with a background in Versamark then embossed with silver detail embossing powder from Sparkle n Sprinkle. The same embossing powder was used for the sentiment.

This is a relatively new challenge for me. I am enjoying it a lot. Sometimes the colors are not ones that I would choose and so this lets me try different combinations. I like the way the light changes the colors, too. I have a lot of birthdays in the summer, so I chose this theme. I used stamps and papers from last year's birthday kit from MFT.

SIP106

Well, I thought that I packed enough supplies to make most any card for any challenge, but nowhere in my thinking did Christmas occur. We are on vacation visiting our kids and I must say that some entries have been a challenge. MFT's card kit for last month was "All About You" and had these wonderful die cut "you"s in various type faces. When I looked for some design help in my stash, this "you" jumped out and said I can be your "Joy"!  And it was. Die cut hexies completed my card.

For my element I chose an MFT flower from the Tropical Blooms set, stamped with gold Delecata ink and colored with watercolor on watercolor paper. I added a gold strip of paper, stamped my sentiment on vellum and embossed with white detail embossing powder from Sparkle n Sprinkle and finished with some enamel dots.

The theme for this week's card was things in a park. This reminds me of a park in Wisconsin where a friend has a cabin. It is so peaceful, it seems that time stands still. This card was made with stampscapes on glossy cardstock, then colored with distress inks. I did spray with clear fix-it so that the colors would not fade.

I chose coral crush and peach bellini for my colors after coloring in a flower from the Fancy Flowers stamp set. In preparation for my trip, I had stamped and embossed some flowers from this set as well as others for inspiration. The sentiment is from the All Occasions Sentiment set. I stamped it in coral crush using my Misti. When it was dry, I stamped it again with Versamark and embossed it with White Pearl embossing powder from Sparkle n Sprinkle. I love the look and will definitely be using again!

This is my first time playing with the Color Throwdown ladies. I'm not at home with all my supplies so in addition to a color challenge, I have challenged myself to use what I have on hand to complete my cards this month. So far I have been able to survive, but have made a list of other supplies I wish I had on hand. I used all MFT supplies in shades of orange, green and brown. I am quite pleased with the combination that I chose.

MFT color challenge 72

I really like this color combination. I think it will be good for a man's card as well as patriotic. I'm sure I will use again. For my entry I chose the wavy greetings strips for the water, the sailboat die (got it on sale) and a greeting from Mermazing. A good combination, don't you think?

SIP105

The theme for this week is summer fun. Is there anything that tastes better on a hot summer day than ice cream? We are in Cincinnati this week and just returned from a walk up to the "Dairy Farmers" for a scoop of fresh peach ice cream! Delish.

I used the MFT stamps and papers for this one.
