I turned the sketch upside down so that I could use the Hello die. This comes from a gift I received with a purchase during the remodel. The additional word die which is included is beautiful in a beautiful script. The simplicity of the sketch makes for an elegant card which is easily mailable.

This week's Color Throwdown paired plum, olive and rust. No trouble with the plum and olive as the "Flashy Florals" card kit from MFT was my introduction to this beautiful Pure Plum color. The rust proved a little difficult but then I thought of the distress ink, Rusty Hinges. The card came together and I just love the combination. Will definitely keep this combo for other uses.

This was a hard one. I could get one part I liked but then the other didn't fit. My husband said it reminded him of an award, so we tried that as well. I came back to old faithful, using the tree from Santa's elves. Love it.

Since I was finished with Halloween cards, I thought that I would do a flower, but I was putting away some card kits and came across my butterflies. I love the way the layered stamping makes them look so real (if there were purple butterflies). I added some Wink of Stella to make them glitter.

This was a fun challenge. My row called for wood, die cut and twine. I fudged a little on the twine by cutting thin strips of paper instead so that it would lay flat. Lots of die cuts, though!

LIM350

I have been making Christmas Cards so when I saw the star theme, I naturally thought of the bible verses which tell of the stars on the first Christmas.

I love silver and dark blue together. When I saw this sketch, I thought of a night sky on Christmas Eve. I wanted to keep it simple and this turned out just as I had planned.

When I saw the colors, I knew that I wanted to color with pencils on Kraft. I am so pleased with the results. I stamped with Versamark and embossed with white detail embossing powder. I used my Prismacolor pencils and all the shades of orange. I used the copic technique for shading from light to dark and it worked great! I finished with some orange bling!

This stamp was given to me last week by a friend for my birthday. I had not seen this line before. It is called The Paper Nest Dolls. I colored her with my copics. The sentiment is one that I found in my stash when I was cleaning. It is from Whipper Snapper Designs, but I don't know how I acquired it! I really felt it went with this "doll".

Challenge 4: MAKE & MAIL

This challenge was to make a card and put it in the mail. A dear friend lost her husband this week and I want her to know that she is in my prayers.

Challenge 3: BY THE NUMBERS

This Challenge was to make numbers a focal point on the card. I'm getting an early start on the New Year celebration with this card.

Challenge 2: DIE-NAMICS DESIGNS

Make a card using only dies. My favorite since I am the "Queen of Die Cuts" according to my friends. Blueprints make things even easier!

World Card Making Day 2017: ROYGBIV

The first challenge of the day was Rainbows! I think this more than fits the bill.

Autumn Thanks

The challenge of Autumn Floral was the idea for this card. I stamped the TE image with Versamark and heat embossed it with SNS gold detail embossing powder on watercolor paper. I chose some Autumn colors and began to fill in. I keeping with the autumn theme, I added an aged copper bucket. When I finished, I realized that LIM is asking for watercolor this week, so I am entering in both.

MFTWSC352

Since I don't have the horizontal stitched strips, I decided to try something new. I cut the kraft paper and trimmed the edges with a scalloped border from a Blueprints die. I thought it needed a pop of color so I made my square out of sour apple. The scallops reminded me of water but not ocean so I pulled out a very old sentiment set called Blue Skies, added some drops to it and to the die cut drops for more of a rainy feel. I love the way it turned out.

I love the fall colors. Made me think of younger days in Cincinnati. I stamped some Geometric leaves with Versamark and embossed them with white embossing powder. Then I used a water color wash over each of them in fall colors with a blue wash background. I love the way it turned out.

This week's challenge was anything but a card. I made a Halloween favor. I'm going to a dance on Halloween and needed 12 so I thought this would be great!
